Master and PhD in Economics from Freiburg University, followed by a MBA (1981) from INSEAD in Fontainebleau.

After 3 years in strategy consulting with Roland Berger Management Consultants, spent 7 years with Egon Zehnder. Was elected Partner in 1990. Transferred to Mülder & Partner GmbH, Germany's leading executive firm in 1992. Partner and co-owner of this firm until the merger with Heidrick & Struggles in 1997. Subsequently active as Vice Chairman of Heidrick & Struggles and Managing Partner of the International Board Practice until 2005.

Joined Board Consultants International in 2005 as Partner. His main activities are Board Reviews and search projects for international Executive and Non-Executive Directors.
